On January 6th, in Coahuila, Mexico, a teacher and six other students were injured at a private school, Cervantes de Torreon School when an 11 year old student opened fire. The student who opened fire was later killed.
Students said that he warned some classmates and said, “today is the day.” The student, Adelaido Flores, had asked to use the restroom and after he did not return, teachers looked for him and saw him exiting the restroom with weapons in his hand.
According to CNN, authorities believe the boy was influenced by the video game Natural Selection, a first-person shooting game. The boy was last seen wearing an undershirt with the game’s name on it.
“I do not think that videogames are the main cause of the violence but it might be the perception of the person playing the game,” said Tori Ross, 11.
The makers of the game were asked for a comment, but ended up turning the request down. It was later reported that the cause of death to the 11 year old, was an self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head
