Men’s Choir at Mt. Vernon

This year was the first year the music department started an all men choir. They meet in SRT every day for 30 minutes. They manage despite having the constructed responses on Monday, sophomores having Study Island to do, and for silent reading days on Wednesdays. At the beginning of their class, they warm up for about five minutes, then sing the songs they are learning.
At ISSMA on April 13, they received gold.
The boys in the choir have many reasons why they enjoy it, and some memories they will never forget about the choir.
Kyran Maxfield, 9, said, “Men’s choir is a fantastic way to spend your SRT. It is a group of dedicated men who can get things done quickly and efficiently. For me it is another great group to be a part of and sing with, the guys are very hard working and are quick to catch on when we need to learn a new song and make it sound good. Some of my favorite memories are; when we made our own version of a song called ‘Men of Mt.Vernon’. I highly recommend men’s choir to any guy interested in singing, learning and performing music.”
Another freshman, Dustin Meek, agreed with Maxfield.
He said, “I am loving the choir and the guys in it. It is really only a good class if someone is willing to try during the class and not slack off. And one of my favorite memories during the class are whenever we have free time during long SRT’s where one day we just played truth or dare for like an hour.”
