Enchanting night at prom

The Mt. Vernon 2019 prom took place at the Scottish Rite Cathedral on April 20, 2019. The theme for the dance was “Enchanted Evening Under the Stars,” and the venue was beautiful.
Many students showed up and danced the night away from 7:30 to 10:30.
Festivities took off with dance circles, slow dances, and the crowning of the prom king and queen. Rielly Glassing, 12, won prom king, and Emme Longman, 12, won prom queen. The two were very excited to win.
“It was cool to see my friends come together and get me voted as prom king,” said Glassing. “Watch the throne.”
Crowd favorites played including the hit song “Thotiana” by Blueface for a more upbeat song or “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran for a classic slow dance. In their best attire, about 400 Mt. Vernon students popped and locked and slow danced and swayed.
“The dancing was fun and cool,” said Abi Dostalek, 12. “Having fun with friends is what prom is all about.”
At the end of the night, many students took to hanging out with their friends, getting food, or just going home after the tiring night.
