Boys tennis starts off the season
August 28, 2018
The boys’ tennis team started their practice during the last week of summer break. They practice from 3:45-5:30pm on the weekdays and from 8-10 am on Saturday mornings.
Many of the boys are ready for the season, and have been practicing hard in the heat.
“The tennis season so far is going really well,” said Joe Moore, 11. “I like how everyone is competing and challenging each other to get better. I think it will be a successful year as long as we keep working and stay focused and confident.”
The boys start by ranking up during practice, which is how they establish who will play in certain spots. This decides their beginning rank on the team, and then they can rank up as the season goes on.
“I like the system we use because in other sports it takes more time to move up, while in tennis you can move up in one day,” said Logan Leroy, 10. “It also makes me work harder too, so I can move up. The only downside of that system is if you have a bad day, you lose your spot and you have to regain that spot. I don’t think it should change though because it makes practice fun but also very competitive.”
The next match is Saturday, August 25, against Muncie Central.
