Indoor percussion takes bronze

Since November 2017, the indoor percussion group has been practicing and competing. Their season ended on April 7. This group practiced every Tuesday and Thursday.
Their first competition was on February 17 and they placed second. Their next competition was March 3. They placed second. After that event, the next event was March 10 and they got first place. The following two competitions were March 17 and 24. They received first place at both of these competitions. They then performed at the State Finals and received third place.
“I enjoyed being able to make music with my friends, interacting and competing with other schools, and growing as a percussionist,” said Grace Miller, 12. “Since it was just concert percussion, we got to really dig in and perfect every note and rhythm we played. Not everyone in Indoor were percussionists.
“We had different instruments with no percussive background and because of our fantastic director and the hard work of the students, they fit in perfectly like they’ve always been percussionists and have been welcomed back for tryouts next year,” Miller continued. “This was our second season since restarting the program and we earned second place last year but improved our score tremendously this year and earned third out of 26 groups. This activity was the highlight of my high school career and I wish I still had more time to be a part of it.“
