These vanilla cake pops are pretty addicting, so continue reading at your own risk. This recipe specifically states that these cake pops are identical to the ones from Starbucks.
Sarah Herman, 12, said: “The cake pops tasted great even though they did not retain the perfect sleek circle shape that Starbucks sells.”
Shaping them and getting the cake pops to stay in their form is truly the hardest part, however, if you can master this, your cake pops will be both delicious and cute.
To make them, you will need:
INGREDIENTS
1 box vanilla cake mix (and all of the ingredients for the back of the box)
¼ stick of butter (softened)
1 bag Wilton candy melts
1 bag Wilton caramel apple sticks
INSTRUCTIONS
The first step is to bake the vanilla cake. After following the instructions on the back, and baking the cake and let it cool for 10 minutes.
The next step is to soften the butter and use it to mold the cake into bite sized “pops.” Do this by using your hands to form and shape the cake into a little ball. The butter should be used as needed to keep the pop together.
Next, use the caramel apple sticks to assemble the ball into an actual cake pop.
The next step is to create the frosting. To do this, melt the candies in a separate bowl for 30 seconds at a time, until fully melted. Using a spatula, spread the melt evenly, like frosting, all over the cake pop.
While the melt is still warm, add sprinkles or other candy to your liking.
Once this is all complete, chill them in the fridge to harden the masterpiece together, and voila, delicious cake pops.
