Cafeteria isn’t just about food

Lunchtime for students is a 30 minute break from class to relax, chat with friends, and most importantly, eat. One thing most students seem to forget, though, is that lunch time could never function properly without the helpful and caring staff of Mt. Vernon’s cafeteria workers.

One cafeteria worker in particular stands out to many students. Bev White usually works in the Extras Line, chatting with students, and being a kind and interesting person to talk to.

Ms. White has been a cafeteria worker for 12 years, all of which have been at Mt. Vernon. She really enjoys working here at MV, especially working with the students.

While talking about her experience in this job, Ms. White explaied working as a cafeteria worker is a really fun job, and her favorite part about working in this profession is creating relationships with each of the students.

“I love what I do, and even if the eighth graders can be a bit rude, the high schoolers are great and extremely polite,” said Ms. White. “Although some people don’t agree this job is a worthwhile one, I will always love it.”
