The Tomorrow’s Golf League, or TGL’s, first season started on January 7 of this year. However, the organization was founded in August 2022 by professional golfers Tiger Woods and Rory Mackleroy. This league introduced a brand new concept of golf that focuses on technology and virtual playing.
The TGL’s arena is located in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida within the SoFi Center. The game consists of six teams with four players per team. Only three golfers compete, with the fourth being rotated each game. The players swing a real golf club into a 64 x 53 foot simulator screen. The playing area within the SoFi center is split into two zones. One is for shots into the screen, while the other is for short-game shots and putting.
The league is broadcasted on ESPN and ESPN+. It is hosted by Scott Van Pelt, Matt Barrie and Marty Smith. Each match is two hours and displays every hole the golfers use. Unique to this program, every participant is mic’d up during the games, allowing viewers to hear their insights.
The TGL seasons are relatively short and last throughout the beginning months of the year. This year, the season will run from January to the end of March. This is because there are currently only six teams with 24 players. These include some of the top PGA Tour golfers from across the world. The second match of the final series will be broadcasted on March 25 .
