A large number of retail stores are slated for closure in 2025. Approximately 15,000 retail stores are expected to close in 2025. According to IndyStar, Forever21, JCPenney, Joann, and Party City are just some retail chains set to close locations in 2025.
Party City, for one, has announced that it will be closing its doors permanently in 2025. Party City first filed for bankruptcy in 2023. Shortly after, the company went bankrupt once more. Now, the company is set to close all of its stores.
Additionally, Joann, previously known as Jo-Ann Fabrics, has announced that it is closing all 800 of its stores. This means that around 20 Joann stores in Indiana will be closing in 2025.
Forever21 is considering filing for bankruptcy again. Indiana has only six Forever21 locations in Greenwood, Evansville, Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, Merrillville and Mishawaka, according to IndyStar. If Forever21 was to go bankrupt, all of its Indiana stores would cease operations.
Lastly, JCPenney will be closing a handful of stores. It is unclear whether or not this will affect the JCPenney locations in Indiana.
Individuals should keep an eye out for stores having closing sales in 2025. Some of the best deals can be found in stores shuttering their doors.
