There are many sports around the world, with some being more popular than others. One sport few might have heard of is bossaball.
Bossaball is a sport that originated in Brazil, the term “bossa” meaning “style” in Portuguese. It combines the elements of volleyball, soccer, gymnastics and capoeira, which is a type of Brazilian dance that also incorporates fighting movements.
The game is played on an inflatable court with trampolines on the outsides and a net in the middle. The goal is to score twenty-five points before the opposing team does by hitting the ball on the ground on the opposite team’s side.
The game consists of two teams with three to five players on each. One player is designated to the trampolines and positions are switched after every point.
Players can move the ball across the net with any part of their body and, similar to volleyball, the objective is to hit the ball over the net.
Scoring works so that each hit in the bounds of the opposing team’s court is one point and, if the ball hits the trampoline section, it is three points.
The fun twist to this game other than the inflatables is that bossaball is accompanied by fun music and serves must have “style.” Overhead kicks and flips are a very popular occurrence in the game.
Bossaball is a growing sport around the world, especially in Europe and South America, and is an activity that many can do. It is a fun way to compete with a combination of sports.
