Season two of Netflix’s “Arcane” was released on November 9th. It was released in three parts, with the second part coming out on November 16th and the third on November 23rd. I love this show a lot and I believe that it has great story-telling. However, there are some aspects that I believe needed improvement.
One specific problem I have with this season is the timing. Season two follows the first season with a time-skip. The setting is a while after the first season’s end. I do not think that this deters from the overall story. I believe that it was necessary to do a time skip because the show has very limited episodes.
However, there is another time skip in episode five of season two. Many of the characters, such as Vi and Mel, are shown to have changed. This difference is only briefly discussed within the episode. This leaves the viewer confused as to what has happened between episodes four and five.
In another instance, the main characters are getting ready to fight their enemies. After it is shown that they are going to plan for the battle, it skips to the time right before the battle happens. I think they should have added some parts in between. The viewer does not know what went on between those two scenes.
Despite this, I still think the show is enjoyable. Because it is only two seasons, the creators did not have as much time to display all that happened within the story.
One aspect of the season I really enjoy is the characters. The characters are very dynamic throughout the story and they change in many ways from the first season to the second. Some change by learning to help the main characters and fight for their cause. Others, like Viktor, become almost another person entirely. These character changes help to make the season more interesting and enticing. They help tie everyone within the plot together.
By the end, the characters became completely different from how they were in the first season. I think this is a good thing because it shows how the environment affects the characters throughout the show. Because they were at war with one another, they had to change to fight for the sides they believed in.
As a whole, this season had both very positive parts and flaws that hurt the overall plot of the show. Despite the negative aspects, the episodes were full of enticing and incredible scenes. In my opinion, season two is better than the first. The character development and storytelling are more enjoyable than the original season. Although the timing within this season is lacking, the episodes as a whole come together to create an amazing final season for “Arcane.”
