Trump won a presidential election for the second time. This time around, President-elect Trump and his Republican Party have blatantly radicalized their stances on all of their policies.
I think the first order Trump will execute in office is a wave of mass deportation, which he has been talking about since day one of his campaign. Many who voted against Trump will destroy the economy. Around 70% of the agricultural workforce was born in another country and migrated here, so, if the majority of farmhands, meat packers, and dairy mill workers are deported, what will happen to grocery prices?
One of Trump’s main campaign points was a significant increase in tariffs. When he goes through with this, economic experts believe other countries will increase their tariffs on our exports. This would significantly raise taxes and prices. Wages would be unable to keep up because these companies would have to spend more money on imports.
Trump has also promised to end the war in Ukraine, a vague statement that has left many unsure how to interpret it. Since Trump’s election, Trump and Elon Musk have had several calls with the Ukrainian president, and it is unclear what the topic of conversation was. Some people are speculating that Trump and Musk want to cut off Ukraine’s access to Musk’s satellite-powered WiFi, Starlink, as it is the only reason that Ukraine is putting up a fight right now.
Trump has historically been on Israel’s side, alongside many in the Republican Party. Trump has gone on record telling the Israeli prime minister, “Do what you have to do.” This proves the belief that he will continue to send his support to Israel.
The Republican Party has control of the Senate, House of Representatives, White House, and Supreme Court. This means that any bill that Trump imposes has a higher chance of passing through the governmental process.
Additionally, several members of Trump’s cabinet have shown support for the hogwash that is “Project 2025.” This project has a plethora of proposed policies such as disbanding the Department of Education and laying waste to the National Weather Service and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Project 2025 also looks to ban certain books that disagree with the Republican belief system from public sources of books.
Trump has not directly supported this plan, but it has been supported by a lot of the people he is picking for his cabinet, which means it could still influence them. These policies will ruin the country. America will become a nation in which every student goes to private school and cannot see the weather forecast.
Hopefully, in the midterm election, the Senate and House will flip and it will make it harder for Trump to get his insane policies passed. Still, until then American citizens are stuck getting their freedom and liberties taken away.
