It is finally fall season, so the weather is colder and it is time to watch movies. These windy and stormy nights and evenings are perfect for blankets and hot chocolate. To get in the mood, there are lots of scary movies that are perfect for the fall season.
It is not Halloween season without watching “Halloween.” Six-year-old Micheal Myers killed his older sister Judith in 1963 when she was just seventeen. He is sentenced to fifteen years in prison. Everyone forgets about him, until October 30th, 1978. He is back at it again, returning to his hometown, Smith’s Grove, to find his next victims. He stalks a babysitter, Laurie Strode, who is played by Jamie Lee Curtis. Throughout this movie, Laurie is fighting against Micheal and successfully survives him. This classic movie franchise is perfect for those dark nights full of thunderstorms.
The “Saw” movie franchise is a psychological thriller series. The movies follow a serial killer as they pick their victims and make a game out of their killings. The chosen victims are sent to a room where they have to solve multiple riddles to escape. If a riddle is answered incorrectly, there are casualties. There is also a spin-off movie, “Jigsaw,” that follows the serial killer’s protegee. He creates a game of his own, modeling it after the famous killer’s original games. These movies are great for anyone looking for some out-of-the-box thinking but who still wants to watch a good murder mystery movie.
“Fear Street,” also a movie series, is witchy and demonic. In the small town of Shadyside, a bunch of deceased killers from the past suddenly start to turn up and begin slaughtering people. Samantha, Deena, Josh, Kate, and Simon all start investigating why these killers are back. As they find clues, they find out that a witch, Sarah Feir, has been resurrected and is bringing back all of the killers of Shadyside. Realizing that Sarah only wants Sam, they set a trap to catch her. The plan is to have Sam die and they will bring her back. It seems to have worked until a little later when Deena finds that Sarah has possessed Sam.
All of these movies are perfect for a dark, windy night. They get an individual into the spirit of that fall feeling. These movies are full of action and suspense. They might even make one jump frightfully, especially if it is dark outside. There are a lot of scary movies out there, but these are by far some of the best.
