This summer, 206 countries came together to compete in the 2024 Olympics. The games take place every four years and were held in Paris, France this year. There were 32 sporting events for athletes to compete in. New events include skateboarding, breakdancing, sport climbing, surfing, and 3 vs 3 basketball. The United States took home the most medals, China and Britain following.
The United States competed in 31 of the 32 olympic events. The United States had 592 athletes competing in the 2024 Olympic Games. A large number of medals were achieved: 40 gold, 44 silver, and 23 bronze medals. The most medals were won in swimming and diving. This makes sense, considering that many events in the sport allow for more medals to be awarded.
The Olympics are a time for countries to come together.
