Do you ever feel overwhelmed at school? Do you feel like you cannot catch a break to just breathe? After all, there is so much to do. Homework, sports, and after school clubs take up most of teens time and you fall asleep just to do the cycle all over again. Is there any way to end this pressure? Of course, there is, and more than one way to stop the stress too.
To start, an individual should think about something that makes them comfortable, whether it is a holiday, a memory, a hobby, or something as simple as one’s favorite color. Thinking of something they like helps calm down an individual’s mind and reduces stress. Say someone has two tests and a big game all in the same day. They spent all night practicing, studying, and barely got any rest. How would they feel? Stressed, tired, and exhausted. Students all over the U.S. feel the same way. Researchers from the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence & Child Study found out 75% of the students’ answers to how they were feeling were negative, meaning they replied with “tired” and “stressed.”
A good way to get rid of these emotions is to organize a daily schedule. A lot of teenagers stay up late doing homework, while others stay up to play video games. In any case, not getting enough sleep can lower one’s learning abilities by 40%. If one makes a list of all the homework they have to do and stays committed, they will get a good night’s sleep and still have an opportunity to play video games.
Last, but not least, do not anticipate. Do not expect to get things done on the first try. Do not expect everything to be perfect. Do not even expect to be good at everything. People all have their own strengths and weaknesses, but learning those strengths and weaknesses helps individuals become better people because they now know what they do and do not like. Knowing something an individual does not like helps them understand which situations to stay away from and continue living a stress free life.
Having these methods can come in handy in any situation. Taking your mind off problems that are overwhelming you, helps relieve nerves and reduce chaotic thoughts that can go on in a person’s head throughout the day. Along with that, staying organized can create a better lifestyle and mindset as long as you go at your own pace.
