“Lethal Company” has just received a major update, that being version 50. This update adds a lot of new content, including new entities and moons. This version was in public beta up until recently. As of last week, it has been released as the default version. There are three new moons introduced in this update, though one seems to be more of a joke moon than something serious.
The first of these is Adamance, a free tier two moon that has a forest setting. It has decent scrap value inside of the facility, but the main issue with this moon is that it has an incredibly high Baboon Hawk spawn rate, which has been buffed in this version. It also features the new Tulip Snakes, which are little lizards that can leap onto player’s heads and fly away, like a pseudo, admittedly more dangerous, jetpack.
Additionally, this moon is incredibly challenging to play when flooded, as there is a large canyon in the center of the map which fully floods during a rainy day. The challenge here is playing slowly, since the bridge going from the ship to
the facility is very fragile.
The second new moon is Embrion, the joke moon. It has a very low scrap value, similar to the easiest moon in the game Experimentation. The biggest problem with this moon is that it only exists for lore reasons regarding some of the new enemies, the Old Birds. These are incredibly dangerous robots that will randomly activate throughout the day and patrol the moon, decimating anything they see. This moon costs 150 credits to go to, and is hidden on the default terminal menu.
The final moon added in the version 50 update is Artifice, an S++ tier difficulty moon. For reference, the second
hardest rated moon, Titan, has an S+ tier rating. Titan features high spawns of Blind Dogs, Forest Keepers, Jesters, Coilheads and Nutcrackers. Meanwhile, Artifice has high spawns of Old Birds, Brackens, Nutcrackers, Butlers and Bunker Spiders. So while most of the danger on Titan is the interior, the dangers of Artifice belong in the exterior. Often, when landing on Artifice, crews can expect to see three or four Old Birds, which makes staying late very dangerous.
The moon costs 1500 credits to go to, but has the upside of amazing scrap value, with gold bars being a surprisingly common item to find. Artifice has four warehouses outside, two of which will be open, and can have Old Birds inside. If this is the case, players should close off these warehouses with the levers that are inside, to prevent the Old Birds from being an issue later on. This moon is amazing if a crew can play seriously, and has an insane amount of loot.
While only three new moons were added, the moon Dine has had significant changes made to the exterior, gaining an entirely new layout, including many large hills separating the paths to the main entrance. This makes killing Forest Keepers incredibly simple, but makes escaping Blind Dogs a nightmare. Also, Dine has the highest spawn rate for the new Butler enemy, which will attack players if they are alone for too long and drop a knife if killed.
This is one of the biggest updates this game has ever received, and Zeekerss is hard at work with more content in the future. The new enemies add variety to the game, and the new moons add a change of scenery. Playing it with friends, as always, is a blast.
