At 12:30 PM on March 23rd, 2024, Mt. Vernon’s Indoor Percussion ensemble performed their show, “Black Kashmire,” for Indoor Percussion Association semifinals at Perry Meridian High School. At 3:30 pm it was announced that the group placed 2nd overall, missing first by a few hundredths of points.
The group has had significant growth throughout the year, placing last at their first competition, but steadily rising through the ranks since then. Their show is mainly rock music, and has also been dubbed a “fan favorite” by many supporters and parents due to its “fun nature.”
Indoor Percussion Association State finals were held at the Indiana State University Hulman Center in Terre Haute, Indiana, on Saturday, April 6th, 2024. Mt. Vernon’s Indoor Percussion ensemble performed at around 11 am, and placed fourth in Concert Class A.
