This does contain spoilers of the show.
“Hazbin Hotel” is an adult show with a musical aspect. The songs ranked here are the songs in season one. The ranking goes from worst to best.
It was not hard to put “Welcome To Heaven” at the bottom. The major reason I put “Welcome To Heaven” so low is because of the excessive groaning that occurs during the song.
There is really not much to say about the reprise. It mostly feels too slow and short to be put any higher. This song does fit perfectly with what was happening in the show at that moment.
Similarly to “More Than Anything – Reprise,” this song is too slow for my liking. I really do like Zestial’s voice, though. Zestial is voiced by James Monroe Iglehart.
“It Starts With Sorry” is an adorable song. I like how it was able to rekindle Charlie and Sir Pentious’ relationship after Sir Pentious was caught putting a camera in the hotel to spy on them.
“Happy Day In Hell” is the first song in the show. It is used to introduce the viewer to the different parts of Pentagram City that are explored during the remainder of the season. I feel like this song’s tempo changes one too many times for my liking.
“You Didn’t Know” is a parallel to “Hell Is Forever.” When I watched the court scene for the first time, I expected it to be a short and quick scene. If the song did not include Adam singing that Vaggie is an angel at the end, this song would have been placed higher. It feels like there are too many plot changes at this point.
After putting my list together, I was surprised “Hell’s Greatest Dad” was this low. I love electro swing, so I was happy when I heard this song for the first time. The fiddle in this song was amazing. There are better songs in the show, though, and I feel like this song was over-popularized.
I love how Charlie and Lucifer’s voices harmonized during this song. The lyrics give more about Charlie’s past and how she felt like she did not get enough time together with her father.
Velvette bringing up that Carmilla potentially killed the Angel during the overlord meeting is one of my favorite parts of the show. The whole song is a powerful back and forth, and watching the argument in song form was interesting and fun.
I am completely in love with Carmilla’s voice. One thing that “Hazbin Hotel” does really well is show personality through instrumentation and genre of the song, and this song is a great example of that. The Spanish beat and chords in the song displayed her personality, feelings and experience as well. The song is also a great way to show Carmilla’s full strength and power, in both her voice and physicality.
This song is amazing. “Hell Is Forever” is the first song introducing the antagonists, and sets up the main conflict in the show, and, during its slight reprise in “You Didn’t Know,” introduces another major conflict. I really like the ending of the song where the whole key changes while Adam tells Charlie that the exterminator angels will be back in six months.
“Stayed Gone” is another rivalry song, but this time between Vox and Alastor. This song is very fun to watch play out. It shows how much the Vox hates Alastor and gives more of a backstory to where they are coming from.
Angel Dust is my favorite character and has been my favorite since the pilot episode. “Poison” talked about his experiences from his point of view and how he feels about the experience of them. I like how fast-paced “Poison” is. The song really shows what Angel has been going through and is surprising to watch in the show. This song makes Angel more interesting by showing that all he does is an act.
This song is so underrated, and it is mostly because Charlie is singing and it sounds too much like a musical song. I love it whenever the cannibals sing because all they are excited about is the free food they are going to be getting. Alastor and Rosie harmonizing during this song is also a major part of putting it this high.
“The Show Must Go On” is the last song of the show and one of the best. I love the musical aspect of the song. My favorite part has to be when the Vees start singing though, it has been stuck in my head ever since I first heard it.
Husker and Angel’s duet is the perfect thing in the episode after everything that happened. I like the beat of this song and how smooth it is. Their voices also compliment each other amazingly. They go from hating each other to becoming best friends due to being in similar circumstances. Husker is voiced by Keith David, and Angel Dust is voiced by Blake Roman.
In the end, all of “Hazbin Hotel’s” songs are great in their own ways. I have different preferences in song style than many people because I usually listen to rock and metal music, which should say something as I really enjoyed the show’s soundtrack despite the only real rock-inspired song being “Hell is Forever.”
