“Paper Towns” by John Green is a great book. It is about a boy who tries to find his friend, who is also the love of his life, after she goes missing. The missing girl, Margo, has left clues for the main character, Quentin, to find. Quentin goes on a trip with his other friends to find her. The book shows his process of finding each of the clues and figuring out what they mean so he can find her.
This book is good because it is very engaging and entertaining. The beginning starts with Quentin and Margo going around their town and pranking people who have wronged them. This creates an adventurous and rebellious tone, and shows how Margo behaves as a character. She loves to cause mischief, and often drags people like Quentin along with her.
This scene also introduces Quentin’s personality, as he is hesitant to go with Margo, and is panicked and paranoid that they will get caught throughout the trip. Despite this, he goes with Margo and does everything she asks him to. This shows how he is willing to do anything for her because he loves her so much. These characters make an interesting duo, and their dynamic is compelling to read.
Other characters I like are Quentin’s best friends, Ben and Radar. They are both very funny and I like them more than Quentin and Margo. The three boys have a very entertaining dynamic. They get into arguments, but stay friends and do not let it affect them. The reader can tell they have been friends for a long time.
Another aspect of this book I really enjoy is the plot. I typically do not like mystery plots, but this one is very engaging. The adventure Quentin goes on to find Margo is fun and exciting. I wanted to know what the next clue would mean and where Margo was. There are many fun things between the characters finding clues as well, such as when the characters go to a party, prom and on a road trip.
This book is good for people who have an interest in mystery books. It is also great for anyone looking for a unique and entertaining book. The book is not very long, but the plot is not rushed, and the ending was both satisfying and an appropriate length. If one is looking for a new book to read, I highly recommend this one.
