Running shoes are an important part of protecting runners. They have more arch support and cushioning than average shoes. This allows for shock absorption to protect the joints from the impact of running. As a runner myself, I will give my opinions on some popular running shoes.
One of the most popular running shoes right now are the 8.9 ounce Lululemon Blissfeel 2’s. They are designed very well for the shape of the average women’s foot and have a very secure fit. Runner’s World decided that the shoe was designed for shorter distances. This makes them a good shoe for new runners, as the medium amount of cushioning makes it less suitable for high-speed running as other more cushioned shoes. They are very tight and supportive, which means that they may feel perfect for some consumers, but tough and inflexible for others. These are currently $128. I think these shoes are popular for a reason, and are a great choice for beginners, especially for those who run short distances or do gym workouts.
Another popular shoe choice is the Hoka Mach 5. Though not the most aesthetically pleasing choice, they are good running shoes. They weigh 8.2 oz for men and 6.8 oz for women making them the lightest shoes on this list. People love these Hokas for daily training and longer runs. Another great feature is that they are available in wide sizing making them accessible to more people. The Profly + foam used is very bouncy and gives good energy return. Some people have had problems with the durability of these shoes, but many swear by them because of the lightness of the shoes and the stability. They are $140. They do not fit my personal need for long lasting shoes, but for others these are the perfect shoes.
The shoes I personally use are the Adidas Running Ultraboost Light shoes. They are pretty cute for running shoes. Though people have mixed opinions on them, I really enjoy them. They are lightweight, coming in at 9.2 ounces for women and 10.5 ounces for men, and have a very large and stable cushion. They are very bouncy and have not caused me any pain. Some people complain that they have flat feet and that these shoes do not supply the extra support they need. For me, they fit well and comfortably. The lightness and bouncy sole supply good energy and bounce for a safe quick run. They cost $190 on the Adidas website and often go on sale for as much as 40% off. I enjoy these shoes and would recommend them to prospective runners.
The perfect running shoe is different for every runner and their personal needs. These are my recommendations, but every person should find the perfect shoe for them and take care of their knees, back and ankles.
