Destiny 2 has just released its 23rd season, the “Season of the Wish” (S23), which is the last season of the Lightfall expansion and thus the last season of Destiny 2 ever. This season is also the longest season, with it being six months long. Though this season was definitely prolonged, I enjoyed the story, gameplay and rewards.
After purchasing S23, players will get the exotic Dragon’s Breath. This rocket is really good not only having solar builds, but also boss damage per second (DPS). The perk about this exotic is its ability to charge or rev a stronger rocket over time. The longer it takes to shoot the rocket, the more powerful it becomes, making it able to go up to five times the power of the normal rocket. This rocket will also leave a large scorched spot in its wake. This exotic also gives the RL increased stats and boosts, meaning it “refuels” the rocket faster, putting out amazing DPS numbers.
The loot pool and seasonal weapons are okay. There are some hits like Scalar Potential, and Doomed Petition, but the rest are nothing special, nor anything meta changing.
Without spoiling, I can say that the lore of this season is engaging and amazing. It wraps up the saga of trying to enter The Traveler, and I love anything to do with the Awoken people and The Dreaming City. The voice acting was also great, with Debra Cardona as Riven specifically doing an amazing job.
I also liked how a new, and first of its kind, exotic strand bow came into the story. This little plot line also may indicate that the subclass Strand is an ancient power that has always been in the Destiny 2 universe.
Overall, though this season is way too long, the story wrapped up enough to get a fresh new story starting Destiny 2: The Final Shape expansion. I am glad I was able to experience the last season of Destiny 2’s Lightfall expansion.
