Christmas is a holiday that is extremely popular. Although it is a common thought that Christmas loses its appeal as one gets older, I decided to talk to people of different ages about what Christmas is to them to see if that thought is true. From a six year old girl, Christmas is about presents. A thirteen year old thinks of Christmas as holly and happy.
To teenagers Christmas might be a day for joy and it gathers family together to exchange warmth and gifts. It is about the spirit of giving and general festivity. According to someone who is a bit older, Christmas is a time to give loved ones gifts, to share love and to hold them close, and to celebrate Jesus. To the older generation Christmas can be a celebration of Jesus Christ and it represents the joy of giving.
Even though there are very dramatic differences between all of the people they all had similar feelings when it comes to Christmas. To most people Christmas is a celebration and a time for joy, no matter the age.
When people get older, the idea of Christmas changes from being about receiving gifts and experiencing the joy of Christmas to enjoying Christmas because of the children in one’s life. People began to find joy in showing Christmas spirit to the people most important to them like children, siblings, or partners. Although the reason people find joy in Christmas changes, the fact that there is joy in the celebration is still evident.
