River House Restuarant

River House Restaurant and Raw Bar is a water-side restaurant in Louisville, Kentucky. It is a popular place to visit for locals and tourists alike. The restaurant is mostly known for its raw bar. From fish caught from the river seen from the scenic windows to freshly harvested oysters from Chesapeake Bay, VA, this raw bar boasts a large number of fresh ingredients. Since it is a seafood restaurant with a beautiful view, though, it is a bit pricey.

My group ordered oysters for an appetizer and they came with a green sauce and lemons all served over ice. They were wonderful, and not fishy at all. The waitress was very kind, told us about the food, and entertained our many questions. Even though there were quite a few other customers, the service was good; when the food was taking a while, the waitress would still come in to check on us and such.

For my entrée, I had the chilled seafood salad, which was $15. It came with octopus, shrimp, mussels, potatoes, and spicy greens topped with extra virgin olive oil and lemon juice. It was an amazing price for a fresh seafood salad and the amount of food I got. I dined here to celebrate a birthday, and our waitress brought out a free cheesecake dessert.

Overall, I loved my meal and the entire experience. I would definitely recommend it to anyone in the area. I also suggest making a reservation ahead of time, as it is so popular the wait can be a bit long. While my party did have a reservation we did still wait about 20 minutes for our table as they seemed understaffed in waiters.
