The First to Die at the End

“The First to Die at the End” is a fiction book written by Adam Silvera. The book was published on October 4, 2022, and was made as a prequel to his book “They Both Die at the End.” “The First to Die at the End” focuses on two guys, Valentino and Orion, who both live in New York City.
The book is told through the point of views of many different characters, the first one being Orion. Orion talks about his life and how he has no birth family, but how he has his best friend Dalma and her family basically take care of him. Orion talks about his heart problems and how he does not feel like he has much time left, which is why he signed up for Death-Cast, an organization that tells people when they will die. Orion and his friend Dalma are at this setup in Times Square where other people talk about how hard their lives have been.
One thing I really enjoy about this book is how the point of view changes. It shows what all of the characters are dealing with and how they are feeling. It’s set up in a way that makes it really entertaining and interesting to read. Along with this, the characters are also very well done. They all have different yet similar personalities that go together really well. The way these characters are described also gives an idea on how they look.
The plot of this book is very interesting, imagine living in a world that can tell you when you will die. It’s super interesting to see how the characters act and react to finding out that someone got a call. In this book the way it’s set up really lets the reader know how each person is feeling throughout the story.
This book is very sad and full of all kinds of emotions. It really reeled me in by switching up the emotions and how things are going. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes books with good endings and lots of emotion. This is also a good read if you enjoy books that take place in the future.
I personally think that this book gets a 5/5. I loved the concept and how sad the book was. This book was, in my opinion, better than the first one just because it had more details and the ending was better. I recommend this book to most book readers.
