Severe weather is nothing to take lightly. All across the US, there have been tornadoes and severe thunderstorms. The top headlines across the United States were “Severe weather across the US to threaten travel, bring more tornado threats,” from Fox News and “Multiple fatalities in Missouri after a reported tornado prompts a search-and-rescue mission, officials say” from CNN. The entire country is being affected by the recent tornados.

In Indiana, Whiteland schools were out for a week due to the tornado that touched down in their community. Sixteen homes were destroyed, while several others had damage from the storm. Trees were blown over and uprooted. This is just one of the many storms tearing across the country right now. 

Another tornado in Missouri left at least 5 dead. From March 26th to April 8th there were severe weather watches in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana and Ohio. The earlier tornadoes killed at least 32 people and left thousands more without power as they were trying to recover from the storm.

There have been at least 81 tornadoes that have touched down between March 31st and April 1st. This has spanned 14 states and has been the biggest outbreak of tornadoes in the US since April, 2020.

A common saying is “April showers bring May flowers,” and this phrase could not be more true. The storms bring rain, which helps to fertilize the ground. A rough spring leads to a beautiful summer. Although this spring has been filled with bad weather, the communities affected will be able to rebuild and move on to a brighter summer.
