“The Black Phone” is one of the best horror/thriller movies I’ve seen in awhile. The acting by Mason Thames, who plays the main character, Finney, really made me feel scared for him. It was a very suspenseful and thrilling movie.

This movie was produced by Blumhouse Productions, and directed by Scott Derrickson, who also directed well-known movies such as “The Purge” and “Halloween Kills.” This was definitely one of the best movies they have made so far. 

The movie has a constant eerie feeling to it, and really reeled me in. The long drawn out suspense at some parts and the jump scares in other scenes really tie it all together. I would recommend this movie to people who really enjoy horror and like suspenseful movies.

Some of the little details in this movie really stuck out to me. One example is the writings on the walls of the place Finney is stuck in and the detail on the Grabber’s mask. The movie is Rated R+, anybody under 17 should have a guardian with them, but I would say anybody in high school would be okay to watch this movie. Despite the blood and language, it wasn’t too graphic. 

This movie has a rating of 82% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 7/10 on IMDb. I would personally rate this movie about a 9/10 because there are, of course, things to be improved on, but other than that it was great. This movie made a total of $153.1 million dollars at the Box Office. I am hoping that a sequel will be made.

This movie gives me “Scream” and “IT” vibes in a way, these people are looking everywhere for this killer who has been in front of them the whole time. I think this really adds to the effect of the movie because it made me wish the characters knew that the killer was right there. It gives “IT” vibes because The Grabber kidnaps kids and leaves black balloons behind as a sign that he is there, similar to Pennywise who leaves behind red balloons when he is near somewhere.

In the end, this movie was absolutely phenomenal and I highly recommend it to all horror fans out there. This movie is still in theaters, but people who prefer to stay home can always watch this movie on Vudu or Amazon Prime Video for 20 dollars.
