Socktober

Socktober is an event created by the members of Family Career Community Leaders of America (FCCLA). This organization focuses on leadership work around the school system and the community. Socktober is one of these events created by the group.

Socks donated to the Socktober event

Socktober will take place from October 1st to October 31st, and the goal is to collect new socks to hopefully go to an organization known as Lambswear and/or Mount Vernon Community closet. Lambswear is a non-profit organization that focuses on giving clothes to kids in need from newborn to age 18.  Lambswear needs as many donations as possible so that every kid can be safe and warm for the winter.

Anyone can donate new socks. There will be boxes near the cafeteria, main entrances, the fashion lab, and staircases. The socks can be any color or brand, but they must be new. FCCLA will not accept any socks that are dirty or that have been used.

FCCLA hopes to get over 100 pairs of new socks. It is approaching the fall and wintertime, so children who do not have good socks for the winter need help. Students interested in doing community service projects should be sure to stop by the next FCCLA meeting. The club needs as many members as possible so that they can do big projects like Socktober.
