The New Toronto 3 by Tory Lanez

Canadian rapper and singer Tory Lanez dropped his 18th mixtape, “The New Toronto 3,” on April 10th, 2020. It sees a return to rap as his previous album “Chixtape 5,” was predominately R&B. On this mixtape, Tory raps about many things including, heartbreak, drug abuse, loss, wealth, and his own personal changes.

To me, the best part about this album is the openness of Tory Lanez, although he’ll give out bangers, he will also give you a look into his life and his struggles.

One of the best examples of this is on the song “Who Needs Love,” where Tory raps about how people in his life only show him love because he is rich. He also talks about how he likes to flex his wealth instead of getting his heart broken, but reveals his sensitivity to opening his heart to others.

This album is also a great starting point if you want to get into to Tory Lanez. All the songs are easy to listen too and Tory has a great voice.

Although the production on this album is lackluster in songs like “Back in Business,” and it seems a little too packed with 16 songs, it is still a good listen.

Overall: 8/10
