Since news of COVID-19 broke in mid-January, there have been many changes surrounding information about the virus.

As of right now there are over 1.3 million cases globally in 176 different countries and regions.

On February 14, there were only 13 confirmed cases in the United States. As of Monday, April 6, there are over 330,000 cases. At Least 90,000 of those cases are in New York. To date there have been 10,000 COVID-19 related deaths in the U.S. and over 70,000 deaths worldwide. Currently there are over 3,000 cases right here in Indiana.

With the number of cases and with how quickly it is being spread, most places are limiting how many people can gather at a time. As a result, all Indiana schools have closed for the remainder of the 2019/2020 school year. Additionally, restaurants have either closed or become carry out or delivery only. The coronavirus has changed life in America.

“Because of the lockdown there is nothing left to do, all I can do is stay at home. I am more bored than I have ever been before since I can not see anybody” said Kaydence Johnson, 9.

All establishments besides places that are essential like grocery stores and maintenance places are closed in Indiana. This has put many Hoosiers out of work, with as many as 404,000 jobs lost or employees laid off according to the Economic Policy Institute

“I think that it’s a good thing that people are being kept from getting sick, but also, I think that it’s a bad thing for people who need the money, it’s messing up their incomes so they might not be able to provide for their families,” said by Taylor Loy, 10.

Currently, the House just passed a $2 trillion dollar coronavirus relief bill which is now on  President Trump’s desk awaiting his approval.

According to Fox News, “The legislation would provide one-time direct payments to Americans of $1,200 per adult making up to $75,000 a year and $2,400 to a married couple making up to $150,000, with $500 payments per child.”
