Basketball is way more than a game for many. It is a way to stay in shape, connect with people on a deeper level, and much more. For the Jarrard brothers, it is beyond a game. Both of them have been playing the game of basketball for about five years.

“It’s a blessing to be able to play basketball together on the same team,” said Armon Jarrard, 10. “It’s a great feeling knowing you always have that one teamnate you know you can always go to.”

The Jarrard brothers have always wanted to play high school basketball together, so this is a dream come true for both of them.

“My dream is to be able to play basketball in college and beyond,” said Ahman Jarrard, 10. “I plan to achieve that goal by working hard and staying focused on my path.”

Going from high school basketball to college basketball can be difficult for some athletes. It is a whole new ball game with bigger, faster, and smarter athletes that players are competing against. It takes a lot more preparation to reach the next step in playing basketball at the highest level.

“My pregame routine is to listen to music and try and get as many dunks as I can in before the game starts,” said Ahman.

Looking up to a certain player that is at the highest level is a great way to help sculpt a player into becoming the player and person they want to be.

“My idol is Kobe Bryant because he is a great scorer and a great competitor,” said Armon.

The Jarrard brothers are just getting started with their basketball careers, only time will tell where it goes from here.
