Death of Young Rapper Juice WRLD

Cade Clark, Staff Writer

Jarad‌ ‌Anthony‌ ‌Higgins,‌ ‌a‌ ‌21‌ ‌year‌ ‌old‌ ‌rapper‌ ‌also‌ ‌known‌ ‌as‌ ‌Juice‌ ‌WRLD,‌ ‌passed‌ ‌away‌ ‌on‌
December‌ ‌9‌ ‌due‌ ‌to‌ ‌a‌ ‌medical‌ ‌emergency‌ ‌inside‌ ‌of‌ ‌Chicago’s‌ ‌Midway‌ ‌International‌ ‌Airport.‌ ‌Juice‌
suffered‌ ‌from‌ ‌a‌ ‌seizure‌ ‌shortly‌ ‌after‌ ‌his‌ ‌plane‌ ‌landed‌ ‌and‌ ‌he‌ ‌entered‌ ‌the‌ ‌airport.‌ ‌Shortly‌ ‌after‌ ‌Juice‌
was‌ ‌transported‌ ‌to‌ ‌a‌ ‌nearby‌ ‌hospital‌ ‌where‌ ‌he‌ ‌woke‌ ‌up,‌ ‌but‌ ‌was‌ ‌pronounced‌ ‌dead‌ ‌at‌ ‌3:14‌ ‌in‌ ‌the‌
morning.‌
However,‌ ‌police‌ ‌revealed‌ ‌that‌ ‌while‌ ‌Juice‌ ‌was‌ ‌being‌ ‌tended‌ ‌to‌ ‌after‌ ‌having‌ ‌the‌ ‌seizure,‌
agents‌ ‌were‌ ‌already‌ ‌waiting‌ ‌for‌ ‌his‌ ‌private‌ ‌jet‌ ‌to‌ ‌land‌ ‌so‌ ‌they‌ ‌could‌ ‌begin‌ ‌searching‌ ‌it.‌ ‌According‌
to‌ ‌the‌ ‌Chicago‌ ‌Tribune,‌ ‌inside‌ ‌of‌ ‌the‌ ‌jet‌ ‌police‌ ‌found‌ ‌forty-one‌ ‌sealed‌ ‌bags‌ ‌of‌ ‌marijuana,‌ ‌six‌ ‌bottles‌
of‌ ‌prescription‌ ‌codeine‌ ‌cough‌ ‌syrup‌ ‌and‌ ‌firearms,‌ ‌including‌ ‌ammunition.‌ ‌His‌ ‌two‌ ‌bodyguards‌
were‌ ‌arrested‌ ‌and‌ ‌charged‌ ‌with‌ ‌possession‌ ‌of‌ ‌the‌ ‌weapons,‌ ‌but‌ ‌later‌ ‌released‌ ‌since‌ ‌they‌ ‌are‌
licensed‌ ‌gun‌ ‌owners.‌
After‌ ‌the‌ ‌news‌ ‌of‌ ‌his‌ ‌death,‌ ‌many‌ ‌sources‌ ‌said‌ ‌Juice‌ ‌was‌ ‌seen‌ ‌just‌ ‌before‌ ‌his‌ ‌death‌
swallowing‌ ‌unknown‌ ‌pills‌ ‌in‌ ‌an‌ ‌attempt‌ ‌to‌ ‌hide‌ ‌them‌ ‌from‌ ‌agents.‌ ‌Some‌ ‌even‌ ‌speculate‌ ‌that‌ ‌it‌ ‌was‌
a‌ ‌suicide‌ ‌attempt‌ ‌to‌ ‌avoid‌ ‌punishment.‌
As‌ ‌of‌ ‌right‌ ‌now,‌ ‌many‌ ‌other‌ ‌artists‌ ‌are‌ ‌mourning‌ ‌the‌ ‌young‌ ‌rapper’s‌ ‌death.‌ ‌Fellow‌ ‌rapper‌
Drake‌ ‌posted‌ ‌on‌ ‌Instagram,‌ ‌”I‌ ‌would‌ ‌like‌ ‌to‌ ‌see‌ ‌all‌ ‌the‌ ‌younger‌ ‌talent‌ ‌live‌ ‌longer,‌ ‌and‌ ‌I‌ ‌hate‌
waking‌ ‌up‌ ‌hearing‌ ‌another‌ ‌story‌ ‌filled‌ ‌with‌ ‌blessings‌ ‌was‌ ‌cut‌ ‌short.”‌
Juice‌ ‌gained‌ ‌most‌ ‌of‌ ‌his‌ ‌fame‌ ‌last‌ ‌year‌ ‌on‌ ‌SoundCloud‌ ‌with‌ ‌two‌ ‌of‌ ‌his‌ ‌biggest‌ ‌hit‌ ‌songs,‌
“Lucid‌ ‌Dreams”‌ ‌and‌ ‌“All‌ ‌Girls‌ ‌are‌ ‌the‌ ‌Same.”‌ ‌He‌ ‌received‌ ‌millions‌ ‌of‌ ‌streams‌ ‌over‌ ‌SoundCloud‌
and‌ ‌Spotify.‌ ‌“All‌ ‌Girls‌ ‌are‌ ‌the‌ ‌Same”‌ ‌was‌ ‌the‌ ‌most‌ ‌played‌ ‌song‌ ‌of‌ ‌the‌ ‌year‌ ‌in‌ ‌2018,‌ ‌and‌ ‌he‌ ‌also‌
received‌ ‌Top‌ ‌New‌ ‌Artist‌ ‌from‌ ‌Billboard‌ ‌Music‌ ‌Awards‌ ‌in‌ ‌May‌ ‌of‌ ‌2018.‌
The‌ ‌first‌ ‌autopsy‌ ‌was‌ ‌completed,‌ ‌but‌ ‌there‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌another‌ ‌one‌ ‌as‌ ‌the‌ ‌first‌ ‌did‌ ‌not‌ ‌offer‌
enough‌ ‌information‌ ‌to‌ ‌determine‌ ‌cause‌ ‌of‌ ‌death.‌
