On August 12th, 2019, a Whistleblower Complaint was filed against Donald Trump.

The complaint was filed saying that President Trump was using the power of his office to solicit interference from a foreign country in the 2020 U.S. election.

A Whistleblower Complaint is something filed by a person who exposes secretive information or an activity that is deemed illegal, unethical, or not correct within a private or public organization. To put it in terms most teens are familiar with, a whistle blower is a snitch.

The complaint is about President Trump’s interactions with Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The document had very few redactions, showing most of what the complaint had to say. The complaint is very detailed and comes from a government official. The complaint claims that President Trump asked for damaging material to use against Democratic rival Joe Biden. It also claims that White House officials tried to cover up his request.

In the document however, the Whistleblower says they only received information, which is different than actually witnessing what happened. The Whistleblower claims to have heard information from half a dozen U.S. officials. 

The document reports the call happened on July 25, but does not state who initiated the call. The Whistleblower says the call consisted of Trump trying to further his personal interests, also claiming he pressured the Ukranian President to help the President’s 2020 reelection campaign. They also claim other officials had direct knowledge of the call.

Though it would take a lot more explanation to completely simplify the complaint, the remaining portions of the complaint is summing up on the past of Trump, his involvement with the Ukraine and how the White House intervened to hide evidence of the call. Whether or not everything is true is yet to be seen.
