What a rough movie: “A Dog’s Way Home”

More stories from Zyaria Hatcher

While binge-watching “Family Feud,” a movie trailer of “A Dog’s Way Home” popped up and I immediately knew that I wanted to see that movie. I do not know if it was entirely because of the cuteness of the dog, but I went right out to see it.

“A Dog’s Way Home” is based on a W. Bruce Cameron book. Bella is a pitbull-mix who is a stray puppy living in an empty lot with her mother and other stray pups. After Bella’s mom is caught by animal control, Bella is left all on her own and has the adventure of a lifetime.

The movie is intense and has some scenes that are not for young kids. Some children may have mild reactions to a few of the scenes in the film. In one of the scenes, Bella is tied to a homeless man and the homeless man dies. Bella is left there attached to a dead man without any food for a few days.

I loved the movie. I felt like the writing was done excellently and the story was cohesive. My favorite part was the look on Luca’s face when he found Bella. I would recommend this movie for all folks 12 and up.

I would probably give it a 3 out of 5.
