A king of a Broadway play

As usual, Disney never disappoints. Their Broadway musical “The Lion King” recently traveled to Indianapolis and has been showing at the Murat Theatre downtown for a few weeks now.

This is a popular show amongst theatregoers. As soon as tickets went on sale, people were snatching them up in fear of them selling out.

“My mom got tickets in April, so we would not have to worry about them selling out,” said Audrey Garner, 12. “We just love Disney that much.”

This show appeals to many different audiences, as it is playful and fun for young children to watch, but also has deep and meaningful messages involving, “the circle of life,” for more mature audiences.

There were many different carefully planned details that made the show go above and beyond its expectations. For example, the costumes were made to morph to the actors’ and actresses. It made some look like they were half human and half wild animals. Everyone in animal costumes also had paint and props all over themselves. In addition, many performers had creative animal masks to help add to the African safari feel.

The music in the show was amazing. There were many songs that had traditional African music feel behind them, but there were also songs such as “Hakuna Matata” that were just catchy to the audience

The show will end on September 29 in Indy and continue to travel to different places, leaving crowds in awe.
