On August 17, 2018, Mt. Vernon Varsity football team took on their first game of the season at Hamilton Heights. Ever since the MV football team got a new head coach, the team has been anxious to see where this new energy is going to take them this season. New coach, Mr. Kirschner, is well-known in the football community, and many were excited to see what all the hype was about.

The game started at 7:00 and was energetic throughout. Although the game had a rainy start, there was a lot of excitement. The Marauder fans in the stands were engaged and excited to watch their team beat the Huskies.

The Marauders ended up dominating Hamilton Heights 43- 14.

MV football player, Dylan Cole, 12,  said, “it was a completely new atmosphere than we have ever had and a big win like that was a great way to start the season.”

Cole also added that the coach of Hamilton Heights was Kirschner’s son. He said, “Coach was really excited to win, but felt bad for beating his son like that.”

With their first football game of the season being a big win, the Marauders are ready for more Friday nights to come.
