Miss Texas on Charlottesville

Margana Wood, Miss Texas in the 2018 Miss America pageant, has been a hot topic on social media recently. In the pageant, which Donald Trump owned until 2015, Miss Texas gave a very blunt answer to a question about the President’s actions regarding the Charlottesville attack this August.

“Last month, a demonstration of neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and the KKK in Charlottesville turned violent and a counter protester was killed. The president said there was shared blamed with ‘very fine people on both sides.’ Were there? Tell me yes or no and explain,” asked Jess Cagle, a pageant judge.

Without missing a beat, Wood replied, “I think that the white supremacist issue was very obvious…That it was a terrorist attack and I think that President Donald Trump should have made a statement earlier, addressing the fact and in making sure all Americans feel safe in this country. That is the Number One issue right now.”

Trump has made no comment on this.

Although Miss Texas was not the winner of the pageant, she was a crowd favorite. They cheered at her reply, and social media users have sung her praises.
