The Marauder basketball season has officially ended with a bang. Mt. Vernon’s own, Michael Ertel, has been chosen to be a part of the Indiana All-Stars team this summer.

The All-Star games include both the boys and girls, as well as, senior and junior all-stars. This is a team built up with the best basketball players in the state chosen to play in a basketball game together against the Kentucky All -Stars.

“When I found out I was an Indiana All-Star I was super excited,” said Ertel. “I got the call late at night and I couldn’t fall asleep. It has been a dream of mine since I was a little kid to wear that jersey.”

Our Mt. Vernon boys basketball team is known for its star player and this is even more apparent after Ertel received this honor. After years of working hard, Ertel believes that his hard work is beginning to pay off.

He said, “I do feel like it is paying off, but I also feel like this is a beginning for me. I have many opportunities coming up for me to showcase all of the work I have put in.”
