Dancing toward next season

On Wednesday, April 3, an informal meeting was held for anyone interested in joining MV’s dance team. Hosted by dance coach, Ellen Jones, the meeting’s primary purpose was to share financial information to parents prior to the upcoming season.

According to freshman dancer, Emma Sweet, “Coach Jones informed them[parents] about monthly costs, what the dance team does, and all the ins and outs of being apart of the team. It was more of an information meeting for the parents, so there was a lot going on that night.”

By arranging a meeting like this, the coach can clarify any concerns of the dancer’s parents and provide them with an opportunity to ask questions. Additionally, the parents are able to communicate with one another for support. Coach Jones’s timing for the meeting allowed for these arrangements to occur prior to the business of the dance season.

With tryouts right around the corner, Sweet excitedly says that she and her teammates “can’t wait for dance to start up again,” and that she’s “missed it so much, even though it’s barely been a month since it ended.”

The parents are not the only ones bonding. Sweet described her fellow dancers as “family” and goes on to say that she “also can’t wait to meet a few new members and grow stronger as a family and as a team. Dance is my favorite thing to do and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my high school years doing what I’m passionate about with the people I love. I wouldn’t want to spend everyday doing anything else.”
