Fortville, according to the Indianapolis Business Journal, is feeling the nudge from Fishers to expand. A new family friendly restaurant and bar is moving in on Broadway being opened by Taxman Fortville LLC, Java Junction is moving into a bigger facility just as What A Girl Wants has, and there are plans to put in another stoplight at 96th and Broadway next year. All signs point to Fortville becoming the next Zionsville.

A number of residents, however, believe that Fortville is in trouble.

Rose Langford said, “Certain shops cause division in the town. They have been a detriment to this town. They have their cliques and they are never open, yet they do all this advertising.”

Fortville is a town with no mayor. It has a five member council and a council president. Their jobs are to establish the policies of Fortville and for its residents. The residents have shown that their water-tower town does not want government and their attempts to stay government-free have been successful so far.

As a result of the town council, the “cliques” Rose mentioned were able to start Trick or Treat on Main, a time where children can walk around Main Street and collect candy from businesses involved. This event, however, did go against the town ordinance of keeping trick or treating from 11-2, which is when many business get the most customers.

In addition, the new restaurant will be in direct competition with FoxGardin Kitchen & Ale, which is a restaurant for adults 21 and older. This may affect FoxGardin’s amount of business in the long-run.
