One of my favorite authors has released his newest book called “Love and First Sight.” This author, Josh Sundquist, got his start on YouTube and achieved great literary success after the release of his first novel We Should Hang Out Sometime, a quirky novel about the struggles of dating in real life.

His newest novel revolves around a boy named Will who is born blind. He eventually meets a girl named Cecily and falls in love with her for her personality and her inner beauty. He soon finds out that there is an experimental surgery he can get that could allow him to gain sight, and with that, he also finds out from his friends that Cecily is different than what she seems.

This book is a great representation that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and is definitely worth the read. This book really toys with the reader’s emotions as Will tries to decide if he wants this life-changing surgery or wants the love and life he has already discovered for himself. It took me for a whirlwind.

A big message this book tries to give the reader is that society’s version of beauty is not what true beauty is and that message made me melt. Will constantly talks about the fact that Cecily is so beautiful no matter what her appearance really is.

This book is full of heart and for that, I give it 5/5 stars.
