Every Thursday afternoon during the summer and fall, the Fortville Church of the Nazarene allows a farmers’ market to be held in their expansive parking lot. The farmers’ market is put on by the Chamber of Commerce. Vendors for the farmers market come from all different areas of Indiana. The vendors sell many different things but mainly fresh produce, although some do sell all-natural soaps, cleaning products, lip balms and candles. It is really a great local event to stop by.

My favorite vendor is the Scapegoat Bakery and Spekeri. Scapegoat Bakery and Spekeri makes a large amount of Norwegian baked goods. They have really good preservative-free bread products. They sell this one type of cookie that is dark chocolate blueberry. The blueberries are still juicy and not shriveled up after being baked in these cookies.

I also really like to get meats and cheeses from Blue River Natural Foods booth. They have good grass-fed meat and cheeses.

Brawner's Greenhouse provided a variety of vegetables for sale at the market. The peppers were a favorite of the reviewer.

Tyner Pond Farms is another good vendor, their produce is something I usually buy. Lincoln Square in Fortville buys from them for the restaurant. They have really good zucchini, and plenty of other products. Brawner’s Greenhouse also has a booth and I usually buy peppers from there. If you are looking for good onions or cherries, I recommend looking at Hidden Acres LLC’s booth as they use zero chemicals on their produce.

Overall I really recommend that everyone who gets the chance goes to the farmers market. It is a great way to support local businesses and get fresh food.

Garst Gardens also brought their chemical free locally grown produce to the market.
